Hiking, mountain biking, snorkelling, diving and kayaking are activities to discover corners of Lloret.
And when the sun sets, Lloret de Mar opens to the night and offers a wide-range of nightlife possibilities within a walking distance. Bars, restaurants and nightclubs, with different environments and lively entertainment until very late hours. And to tempt fate, the Gran Casino Costa Brava is the new casino located in Lloret de Mar. Open every day from 10 o'clock in the morning until late night. It is a 16,000 m2 building in which there are slot-machines, tables with authorized casino games, poker tournaments, a restaurant, cocktail bar, a lounge bar, VIP room and private spaces for events.
Shopping and gastronomy
Lloret's shopping offer is wide and different. You can find all sorts of articles and products. Activities are held throughout the year and trade fairs such as the 'Botiga al Carrer", when the stores get their products to the street, or the Medieval fair. A visit to the weekly Tuesday market and the Municipal market are highly recommended.
Gastronomically, you can enjoy from typical Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine to some more exotic varieties and even author's cuisine. Traditional recipes of fresh fish, like sea and mountain (combination of fish and meat) are a must-try. There are two gastronomic events which take place in Lloret de Mar: the week of the rice and the week of the "cuina de l'art".
Tossa de Mar
Tossa is the only city on the coast of Catalonia, which retains a walled enclosure. Located in Es Raco in the Platja Gran was built in the 12th century to protect themselves from pirates and today is one of the most important medieval remains in Catalonia.
Located 29 km from Lloret de Mar, Girona is a city alive throughout the year: culture, festivals and events like the exhibition "GIrona, Temps de Flors", during which the streets of the historic area are decorated with floral motifs. A visit to the "Call Jueu" and the Cathedral are a must. In addition, you'll find an important commercial and gastronomic offer.
Figueres, located near the border with France, is the gateway to Catalonia and a great center of trade. A Highlight is the Dalí Theatre-Museum, solely dedicated to Salvador Dalí where besides his works you can find, under the main level of the building, the grave of the artist.
Cadaqués and Port Lligat
Cadaqués is a fishermen small village with cobblestone streets and white houses and excellent and peaceful beaches and coves. North of Cadaqués there's Portlligat, small village known for being the place of residence of Salvador Dalí and where you can currently visit the Salvador Dalí House-Museum.
A little more than one kilometre from the coast of L'Estartit, find the Illes Medes one of the most important natural areas of the Mediterranean. The protection of this area, declared a marine reserve, makes it very attractive for water activities such as scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing,...
Known as the Portal of the Costa Brava, offers year-round activities and attractions to visit such as the Marimurtra gardens, a botanical garden with views to the sea and more than 3000 species or the International Fireworks competition, one of the largest in Europe, which is held in the month of July and lasts a week.
Caldes de Malavella
Here there is a historical monument of national interest and the most important and characteristic of Caldes: the Roman baths. You can also enjoy a day of relaxation at spas that take advantage of the thermal waters of the town such as the Balneario Vichy Catalan.
Cap de Creus
Between the land and the sea, Cap de Creus is an area of great beauty, endowed with a unique geological configuration, with structures and outcrops that make up a unique set in the world. The effect of the tramontana has created some capricious forms of erosion has transformed the landscape in a very special way.
